Is it illegal to smoke in public underage? I’m 14 and about to be 15 and I’ve only smoked like 5 cigarettes in my life and me and my friends were walking around this place and smoking cause thats the only time I would do it and a undercover cop comes up with a notepad and ask me my address [everyone else dropped there ciggerates] but I was stupid and didn’t. And he goes ‘watcha ya got in your hand there’………anyways is it illegal to smoke? One of my friends said all they can do is tell you to put it out.
It isn’t illegal to smoke in public, just to buy the cigarettes. Where I live, you can smoke in front of cops, but they only ask you about it if you look under 18. As long as they don’t see you trying to buy them, there really isn’t anything they can do.

- Your friend is absurd, first of all, it’s illegal to smoke underage in the first place, second, I doubt the part about an undercover cop, and thirdly, there’s nothing wrong with talking to a doctor = /

I’m sure it differs based on city/county. In Palm Beach County, FL, where I grew up, it WAS actually illegal. If you were stopped and didn’t have appropriate ID you would get a $30 fine. But if the cop didn’t give you a fine, he probably just wanted to scare you. Just don’t do it again. It smells bad anyway :)
