two year old son has stopped talking

he started talking when he turned one but he stopped talking about 4 or 5 months ago. I don’t know whats happening to my baby. he is a very happy and active baby but won’t talk .some times it seems he doesn’t even understand what am saying. what should I do?

Answer #1

He’s of the age now where less focus is on physical cues or hand gestures, and more is on speech. So like the others said: get his hearing checked, because he may have a hearing problem.

Answer #2

talk to a pediatrition.

Answer #3

take him to the doctors would be a good idea, it could be his ears.

IMPORTANT at age two kids should say around 50 words, at least 20 words all the way. I have 4 kids. Have 1 that was the best baby that hardly make any noise or cried at all later found out he had a form of Autism. Lived in S.C. they couldn’t tell me that anything was wrong with my child. Moved new doctor said you need to take your son to burell behavior center so I did. Surprise me thought he was just a reg. child. Talk to your doctor get recommenced to Speech Class and see if you can have a gross motor skills test on your child. Sometimes you have to speck up to your doctor tell him/her you want your kid tested don’t let them tell you to wait.

My 4 year old had tubes put in his ears when he was 11 months old his ear doctor went over sea’s his reg. doctor told me that his ears where fine all the time for 3 years. Got different doctor recommend me to a new specialist ears, noise, throat, doctor. Tubes had put a hold in my 3 years old ear. Took them out the next day. Doctor’s told me that since he had tubes they probably mess his ears up better to use ear drops if ever get ear aches.

Answer #5

Answer #6

Yah my friends kid never really talked all the much, and his parents always thought he was ignoring them. Turned out he was 90% deaf. :P

so I would talk to a doctor and get his hearing checked.
