TV Commercials

Why do they only put attractive people on TV commercials? Is it to make us feel ugly for not buying their product? Or maybe they just think the commercial is easier to watch, because the people are more attractive in the “plastic” sort of sense? Do they honestly think we will look as attractive as all of those horrible commerical actors if we buy their stuff? And does being “attractive” also make people pre-judge you by thinking you’re more shallow and less intellectual than an “average” looking person? What do you think? :)

They want you to imagine yourself looking as beautiful and fresh as the people on tv when you’re using your product. For example, if you see a woman with gorgeously long lashes on a commercial for a new mascara, you’ll probably imagine what the mascara can do for your lashes. Or, if you see an ad for the newest denim styles, then you may think about how cute they are on the model and imagine the jeans flattering you the same way.

I’ve always wondered that too and why people with more meat on their bones aren’t in tv commercials as much. I think it has something to do with appeal and that people who aren’t as attractive (according to the media’s standard) don’t try out for the roles possible for fear of rejection or something like that. People who, I guess, aren’t as attractive as what the world and media see attractive usually tend to have the better personalities so I don’t see why a commercial producer wouldn’t want that in a commercial. I hope I am making some sense. I also don’t get weight-loss or exercise machine commericals. Why would they want in-shape people to be in those. I dunno.
