During each menstrual cycle, a woman’s ovaries release an egg, or ovum. This process is called ovulation. Generally, this takes place on an average of about 14 days before the start of a woman’s monthly period. Even for women with regular periods, this timing or duration can vary from month to month. Sometimes, there may not be any ovulation at all but the woman may still have her bleeding. After ovulation the egg moves toward the uterus through the fallopian tubes. If there is a sperm available, with all the right conditions, here is where the process of fertilization may take place. An unfertilized egg may live for about 24 hours and if does not get fertilized during this duration, it will be shed during the next menstrual period, along with the uterine lining. Due to the increasing stress levels, it is very common for women who are ovulating to experience some vaginal bleeding that can be unfortunately mistaken for a period. Other factors that may contribute to this are malnutrition or trauma to the cervix. In some women, ovulation can actually occur before the menstrual bleeding has stopped. In others it may occur within a few days after her period has finished. In both of these cases, having sex before the period or just after it has finished, can result in pregnancy.

Besides misleading vaginal bleeding, the ability of sperms to survive inside a woman’s body is also another reason why it is possible for a woman to get pregnant during her periods. Sperms can survive for an average of two or three days, inside a woman’s body under normal conditions. If they receive ideal circumstances, however, they may remain viable for up to five days. So if sperm are deposited early, such as during a woman’s period, they can hang around a few days, waiting until conditions are right for conception. A woman is most likely to become pregnant if sexual intercourse occurs just before or just after ovulation.

If you have had unprotected sex during your periods, the best idea is to take a home pregnancy test. These tests are easily available on the Internet and are very simple to use too. Within a few minutes you can know whether or not you are pregnant. If the home pregnancy test results show a negative, there is still a chance that you may be pregnant if you feel all the symptoms. In such a case a blood pregnancy testwould be the best solution. Do look up are article on blood pregnancy tests to give you a clearer picture of these.

Answer #6

if your trying to have a baby the best thing to do is to forget about it in my situation as soon as I stopped trying to have a child she just showed up

Answer #7

I have to disagree w/skeedo. Yes, you can definatley get pregnant when you are having your period. That is how I got pregnant with 3 of mine. As for your womb being in a renewal state at that time, I have never heard of that. Learn something new on here every day.

Answer #8

I am curious why you would choose to be trying to get pregnant at that time in your cycle. I think for a couple who is fertile it is possible but not likely. If you truly want to get pregnant you need to determine when you are ovulating.

Answer #9

No, you can not get pregnant when you are on your period because your womb is in a renewal state at that time. your chances will however increase if you do try a few days after your period when you start ovulating. all the best.

Answer #10

No clue I think the way to have a baby like how I have done it is make sure you and your husband are in the mood (horny), and then talk about it then do it MAKE SURE that you want to become pregnant. Also make sure that you have a pregnancy monitor because you might need something from the doctor. Good Luck and my best wishes to you

Answer #11

It’s not definate you can get pregnant on your period cuz at that time the lining that covers the womb is being rejected and discharged from the body because a fertilized egg did not attach to it so, as that lining is being discharged there is no where for a fertilized egg to attach itself. Sperm can be found in the body for up to three days so It is probable that oneheartnow had intercourse at the end of her period. But as velveteenchristeen said an infertile couple should determine when ovulation begins as that is the surest time to conceive. All the best.

Answer #12

Have tons of sex all the time that is how you make a baby.
