It doesn't help you loose weight in a sense that it acts as some sort of metabolism speeder upper, but it may make you loose your appetite and replace snacks with smokes. You may snack a bit during the day, but if you start smoking, eventually snacks will be replaced with having a smoke- eliminating the intake of sugar/fats from the snacks. However with some people, their bodies get confused and think they are hungry which will make them eat and gain weight.
Do not start smoking because you want to loose weight. If you want to loose weight, exercise and drink lots of water. Before you start smoking I strongly suggest you take a quick read at websites designed to inform people of the dangers of smoking. You will shorten your life and you will always smell disgusting.
It suppresses appetite and raises the metabolism....however, it's the most adictive drug out there....at $6.00 to $8.00 a pack, it's also getting right up there in the most expensive drug out there.
Exercise also raises metabolism....and you body maintaining muscle burns more calaries than maintaining fat....so even sleeping you burn more calories if you exercise.

Smoking generally will make not feel as hungry as usual, you start to want food but want to eat it as much. I happened to me when i first stared to smoke, i could never eat. So i basically told myself to either quit or start to eat. i liked the fact that i was losing weight but sooner or later i realized it was way unhealthy.
Well this is true because the more you smoke you don't feel hungry alot and you dont eat much.Smoking cigarettes makes your heart beat faster, meaning your body expends more energy and burns more calories.As a result,you loose weight. Though,there are less positive effects and more negative effects of smoking.
It can suppress appetite, but with some people it has the opposite effect.
There are safer and better ways of losing weight and staying thin. Messing up your lungs because of low self confidence is not the way to go.
I wasn't implying you had one. I meant that many people who have low confidence about their weight take up smoking as a quick fix to their problems.
It's not a "low confidence" thing, i just generally wondered if it helped in anyway.
