It's hard to tease your hair sometimes, but what I do is wash my hair the night before so it's not too clean but not dirty, cause I heard once it's way easier to tease with dirty hair. So what I do is add a little bit of hairspray & then I get my comb/brush & get portions of your hair and you pinch it at the end and start combing/brushing it till it gets a little messy, then after you just brush it straight and then add hairspray.
