Do you think tattoos should have meanings or a story behind them, or purely just to look nice?

Im guna be asking alot of questions about tattoos as Im getting one soon :)

Answer #1

it all depends on the person getting them and why they want the tattoo. personally i like things with meaning, ot things that look good with some meaning, but its a tattoo. everyone with a tattoo will have got theirs for a different reason, basically whatever YOU personally choose to have tattooed on you will do, its your choice wether or not you want something with a personal meaning or want something just because it looks good

Answer #2

if it was me, I would want it to mean something. Im part NZ maori and in that culture, tattoo is very significant. If I was ever going to get one (which I doubt I would, its just not me!) it would be something to do with that part of my ancestry, like a koru design

Answer #3

I think tatoos are nasty.

Answer #4

Here’s the thing. When you’re 60 and the skin doesnt look so great, do you want a tattoo that isnt going to be looking nice any more? I think for that reason a person should consider the tattoo having meaning. However, it is the person’s body and they can do whatever they want. My guess is that in 40 years they will have gotten a lot better at removing tattoos, so I dont think it’s the biggest deal anyways.

Answer #5

Either. Tattoos tend to be more special to a person however, when they have a meaning behind them. Your also less likely to dislike the tattoo later in life when it has a meaning and wasnt just pretty “art”. I have tattoos for both purposes. I have some that have meaning and that i love being able to share the story behind and tell people why i got them (my dads fight with cancer, my two years sober tattoo, and my sons tattoo), and i also have some just because i liked the way they looked. (My stars on my hands, my stars going down my spine, my v(a)g tattoo, and the scrollwork underneath my breastt). I personally dont regret the ones that dont have meaning, but im also not a person who plans on having just a few tattoos. my goal is to have complete sleeves and have my backpiece and chest piece done. Its a lifestyle choice, and alot of the people who are heavily tattooed have tattoos with no meaning, it was just something they liked. Its art to me though.

Answer #6

all my tatts have a story behine them. and the story goes ‘stupid phase’

Answer #7

I don’t.

Answer #8

Some tattoos have a meaning and some like the one i have, I have a spiritual connection with me because in a way it represents who i am as a person. Yes, i think most should have a meaning or a story because now a days people get a tattoo for the sake of getting one and then they regret it later on.

Answer #9

Mostly,or if I were in your place,a tattoo with a meaning looks great, because then it shows who you are are and the tattoo isn’t only a tattoo,it just show your personality too. So get a tattoo with meaning that defines you and also looks good, not a big deal.

Answer #10

Oh, and I have a tattoo. Dont regret it. Although I waited several years before getting it. So I knew I was unlikely to regret it.

Answer #11

have a true meaning or story. if its gonna be ther for the rest of your life, your gonna want something that means something to you and not something that just looks cool
