What's the tallest breed of dog without being obscenely skinny like a greyhound that you can buy to keep as a pet?

well now that you mention it…I was researching about cool dogs (since I’ve never owned one) and I read that the biggest dog ever was the Mastiff….These dogs are big….and the breed is known for the numerous amounts of dogs that are….HUGE!

Also there is this breed that I would love to own when I grow up (my parents won’t give me any pets) is the Siberian husky…. they are beautiful dogs…..some can be huge and they are wolfish like dogs that are domestic…

Yes! I’ve always wanted a husky, they’re beautiful. I find Mastiffs a big scary though :(

The tallest dogs are the Irish Wolfhound, followed by the Great Dane.

Mastiifs, St. Bernads, Newfoundland, Great Pyrenees are also all giant breeds that are not quite so tall, but much wider.

haha yeah I know well…when I read the question all I thought about was “ what’s the biggest domestic dog”

I would say the Great Dane as they are very large dogs, but not skinny. They are the tallest breed of dogs I have ever know.

Also bullmastifs are excellent dogs (they are large dogs - you do get massive onces) and they can handle small spaces (were bred for it) and don’t need an obscene amount of energy. I also like the Newfoundland, but they need water and a colder environment.

I used to own one, and she was only a year old and already bigger than my friends labrador. Her paws were almost the same size as my hand. They are very lazy dogs though.

They really are beautiful dogs, but the way they change when they’re angry scares the hell outta me. :/

Yeah, well my dog was bigger than she realized. (She thought she was a lap-dog) And I don’t think they know that they are being so scary. But they are so loyal and protective. That’s why I love them :)
