How often do you swear?

Just wondering how much you swear? I never really swear… around other people that is. But just wanted to know how often you do, and what your opinion is of people swearing occassionally in appropriate situations?

Answer #1

Only when I get very angry…which isn’t often

Answer #2

in every fu*kin sentence and im not over exaggerating

Answer #3

I try not to swear too much, unless I hurt myself, then I’m horrible! : )

Answer #4

Every other scentence practically. My fiance says i have the mouth of a sailor. The only exceptions are when im around my elders, parents, or people i dont know. I do believe in having some respect for others and your elders.

Answer #5

Not very often! I tend to say things like holy sheep!

Answer #6

I like swearing a lot, for me its pretty fun. I will swear around people my age, but never in front of adults. But sometimes i hang out with people who dont swear so i’ll censor myself. I think its fine to swear in certain situations, because sometimes ‘gee wiz’ dosent cut it,

Answer #7

In your average conversation with someone I know it wont bother, I would once or twice every 5 sentences. Unless you count “bloody hellfire” or just “ah hellfire”. I use both of those alot when I’m around family that isn’t ok with swearing.

But that goes up dramatically with my frustration, finally reaching a point where the whole sentence needs to be bleeped.

Answer #8

I swear very rarely indeed. Not that I am offended by it nor am I particularly worried about offending other people. It is just that I think the English language is better equipped to express any concept or emotional effect if you use non-offensive vocabulary that says exactly what you intend it to convey. Excessive swearing is often a sign of paucity of thought. The use of a swear word on very rare occasions, by someone who does not normally swear can convey more impact and meaning than it ever would when used by a habitual swearer.

Answer #9

quite alot….if im thinking of something to say someone would say “ermmm” i say “f*ckinn erm” LOL

Answer #10

to say something*

Answer #11

Always. My parents have always let me.

Answer #12

I rarely ever swear, I found it really does not help thing, and a lot of time it makes the user of the word sound stupid and childish.

Answer #13

Well thought out, thank you.

Answer #14

Tbh I dont see the reason for giving them labels such as “Bad words” and “Dirty language”. Sht, fck, and almost any other swear are just the same as words like “Run” or “Stupid”, they just add emphasis. In my oppinion I think we should relieve the titles from these words and instead give these titles to the words that are targeted to hurt a single croud, Such as the words N*gger, Gook, or Camel Jockey. These are the true “bad words”.

Answer #15

I am sorry but the words are deemed slang, and they are not used as action words when the user blurts them out. Most of these slang action words do not fit the contents they are used in, so the user now sound ignorant. As far as the racial slurs you have at the bottom of your post, most adults I have meet do not use them, and most people relate individuals who use these words are written off as ignorant.

Answer #16

What about around your kids?

Answer #17

I never swear. I mean it, really. Ive only sworn twice in my life, when I was like, 5 lol. It doesnt bother me all the time, esp if people have a really really good reason for swearing. But most of the time I would rather they didnt swear. It goes against my standards

Answer #18

like every other word lol ive tried to stop but i just cant haha

Answer #19

Answer #20

Answer #22

Answer #23

All the time, although I’ve cut down now that I live with my step-mother. She hates swearing and doesn’t want her sons influenced, which I think is fair enough. But it means that when I’m free it all comes out like verbal diarrhoea. Don’t you love the versatility of the word f.ck? The best use I’ve heard is meaning “to throw”. Like, “I picked up the remote and just f.cked it out the window!” Brilliant. Yeah, swearing doesn’t offend me. Although I don’t like the word c.nt being used. I’ve only used it on a few rare occasions and that was when I was REALLY mad.

Answer #24

Not whenblurted out no, nothing really means a whole lot when blurted out. I’m talking about using these words for emphasis “That’s fcking stupid” “That’s fcked up” Sht sucks” Adds emphasis to a boring sentance, just like how the kids of the 60s/70s used their own slang. “Radical!”, “Far out”, etc There’s nothing ignorant about having your own vocabulary that isn’t restricted by how you want to be polite.

Of course this doesn’t mean that I go around and add a swear to every other sentance to spice it up, but I will add emphasis where emphasis is needed.

Answer #25

Never. I’ve only sworn on purpose once under my breath in shop class

Answer #26

But I don’t mind people that do… The only time I get annoyed is when people swear just about every other word. I dunno it’s just I guess another use for words but in my perspective, they’re called swear words for a reason and most are meant to be hurtful… Almost all of my friends swear tho xD

Answer #27

Unfortunately, way too much.

Answer #28

I don’t really swear much. I sometimes swear when talking about people I don’t like, like ‘she’s such a ‘ lol that made me sound like a . Haha. But generally no. I do tend to swear a lot when I’m excited though.
