Depending on the wood that the guitar is made of, different strings will make different sounds. Definitely get steel strings. Expensive strings will give you a clearer sound and will probably last longer. If you take your guitar to a music shop, they will be able to match you up with some perfect strings.
Make sure you tell the guy at the music shop that you are relatively new to the guitar, that way he will be able to find you some strings that don't sit too close to the neck (which can make playing difficult) and that aren't too harsh on your fingers :)
After 25 years of playing, I have settled on Martin acoustic SP phosphor bronze. In my experience, I've never found a longer lasting, better sounding string. They are worth the few extra bucks
ok thanks..im a little new at playing..only been playing for like 2 months lol..so although i've learned ALOT in that little time...i still dont know a whole lot about strings..lol..
