Why cant i stop chewing my lips, tongue, or cheeks?

Ive been having this problem the last week or so. I have this horrible need to keep my mouth constantly moving, by rubbing my tongue on my teetch, biting my tongue or lips or swallowing. AGH its driving me nuts, i have so many sores on my tongue and the inside of my lip its not even funny. I cant stop unless i conciously make the effort, and thats stressful. Does anyone know what this is or how to stop it?

You are probably stressed. Try chewing gum instead as you may hurt your mouth chewing it.

Answer #6

It sounds like you are nervous and/or stressed out. Its like chewing your nails. Everytime you catch yourself doing, stop and take a moment tomental give yourself crap. Doing smething like chewing gum, suckers etc, may help, but I wonder if you are trading one bad habit for anothr.

Answer #7

You are probably overstressed. Try calming down, get active, maybe even take sleeping pills when you go to bed to help calm you :) maybe, depending on how bad it is, you might have to see a doctor. If you are injuring yourself. (:

Answer #8

you ran out of gum?
