How do I stop my cat from peeing on my things when she's mad?

My cat pees all on all of my parents’ and my things, but I think she only does it when she’s mad. She peed on my mom’s coat the other day so my mom locked her in the bathroom with the litter box and food and water, and as soon as I let her out she came in my room and peed on my sheets. Is there a way to stop such behaviour? And I would like helpful answers, please. I don’t want my mother getting rid of my cat!

Answer #1

Make sure her litter is clean and accessible, and spray her with a water bottle full of water (it wont harm her) and she’ll learn I pee on things I’m not supposed to, I get sprayed and hopefully she wont do it anymore….Hope I Helped!

If she is only doing it when she is angry, you need to make sure she understands the connection between her actions and concequences. Animals dont speak our language, so the word “bad” or “no” dont really register as well unless they were trained this way from birth. I have 12 cats in the house I am living at and each one has there own personality and temper and way of dealing. What you need to do is when she does it, pick her up firmly, not like you are trying to swaddle her. Stick her nose right against the area she urinated on. Then force her to face you and make eye contact. Keep a stern look and say no. Some people tap the cats head, nose or flick there ear lightly after saying no. What ever you choose is nessisary.

she just started doing it though, which i don’t understand. i mean, she would pee in the house before she was litter trained but now i’m thinking she does it out of spite. and our house is so large it’s hard to keep track of her; she is punished when caught in the act, though.

Spray bottle. :]

Answer #5

Do not make her mad, then your things are saved. :)

Answer #6

You just have to make sure you make the spatial connectoin between cause and effect, so they know that you get upset for the reason of there actoins. If it persists you may need to resort to time outs in kennels. After the do such a thing, do the NO thing and place them in a cat carrier or kennel for a period of time. They will become agitated and want out. They will see that this is the result of there actions, and to prevent being locked up they have to behave. But that is only if it is resorted

She could be sick too. If the urine smells extremly bad, more so than usual, or if you seen any other change in behavior you may want to see your vet.

Answer #9

Are you serious? This isnt a person. It’s an animal. If this is a new behavior, she may have a uterine infection or be sick, or there may be something else going on. My cat was doing it because she didnt like the box covered. So try a different spot. A different box. A different type of liter. Cover if uncovered, or uncover if covered. And trying to punish doesnt work. They just do it more sneakily.

Answer #10

Try using a small spray bottle filled with water on her whenever she goes where she’s not supposed to. Try to train her to go somewhere else instead, like a litterbox and then praise her when she goes there as opposed to on your clothes.

Answer #11

I had to laugh too..although it isn’t such a laughing matter because that smell never comes out of anything..like once something is pi*sed on…your pretty much screwed..umm is she fixed?getting her fixed could stop some of these problems…make sure she is litter box trained correctly and knows where the box is located…also whenever you see her do bad things get a spray bottle, fill it with water and spray her @ss,that should teach her what are no no’s haa.

Answer #12

Is she spayed?

Answer #13

Often if its not a UTI (which for females is not as likely as males) then she most likely has behavioural issues. Take her to your vet and get him to prescribe behavioural meds. They really work! we have a cat at the clinic I work at who used to urinate all over - he is now on meds and doesnt do it anymore :D
