Square roots?

In my math class we are learning about square roots, im sure its not that hard but my class is just so loud! Can anyone explain them to me…

Answer #1

a square root is a number like 5 is squared. in other words a number like 5 times itself. so if 5 was squared, it would give you 25. to find a square root, some you cant do by hand. in this case, the square root of 25 is 5. the square root of 4 is 2, the square root of 9 is 3, the square root of 16 is 4, the sqare root of 36 is 6, the square root 49 is 7, the square root of 64 is 8, the square root of 81 is 9, the square root of 100 is 10, the square root of 121 is 11, the square root of 144 is 12, the square root of 169 is 13, the square root of 196 is 14, and the square root of 225 is 15. as you can see, to get a square root is simply dividing a big number by a number and if you get the number you divided the big number by then its a square root of a bigger number. you can find the square root of other number that dont exactly have a perfect square, that is a bit more complicated but ima pro at it.

Answer #2

so a square is when something is multiplied by itself, so when you square root something it’s finding the number that is multiplied by itself to get that number…

so 4 = 2 squared = 22 9 = 3 squared = 33 16 = 4 squared = 4*4 etc those are perfect squares (squares of whole numbers) but any number can be square rooted
