I am going to crochet a pair of shoes. I already have the pattern, but it did not say anything about soles or anything. I don't really mind, except I want the shoes to last and don't want the yarn to wear through. I was going to use Lion Brand Cotton yarn. Do I even need soles, or do could the yarn last by itself? Any recommendations on what soles to use/where to find them? Thanks!
you could use the bottom of a pair of flip-flops. just pin the pieces to the flip-flop and try it on. adjust it until the fit is right, then pin the two pieces where they meet and sew them together.
you can sew a channel in the front piece for some webbing, thread the webbing through and sew the webbing to the inside by your ankle bones.
then pin the pieces to the flip-flops and with a stitching awl, stitch them to the sole.
I might do that. I will check out the site mentioned by Stella and see what they have. If they don't have anything, I will probably do this. Thanks!

Here's a site that sells soles of which youcan adapt in terms of size to your shoes.
I've seen some pretty cool rubber-soled shoes made out of used car tired.
You can use leather like with moccasins or boots.
