PS…I doubt there will be any favorable outcome to a lawsuit, but I really DO think you should report what happened to Purina…AND to the FDA…there’s a “dog food” site, just for that purpose.

I don’t think any of Purina’s dry products were on that recall list, last year…The problem with Purina products, as well as Science Diet (a very costly food, BTW)…and other very cheap brands is…the number one ingredient is corn…a product that doesn’t do a dog any good…it’s a huge complex carb, and a filler…that’s all.

There wasn’t a “formula” 10 years ago, but even then, I chose food where the first 2 ingredients in the list were meat…if it had any corn, soy, or wheat, I’d move down the aisle until I found one with the top two ingredents were meat, and the “filler” was rice, oats or barley…Nowadays, you can get dog food without ANY grain in it at all, though some dog’s guts don’t seem to be able to handle it (they will do well on RAW, but something in the commercial processing seems to bother the gut).

Finding a food that your dog does well on…shiny soft coat, clear eyes, decent doggie breath…is a time consumer, but well worth the effort…I’ve never had all dogs on the same food, just for that reason…Old dogs eat different than young active dogs…Big dogs have different needs than small dogs…joints and soft tissue are always something to consider in both big and small…

When you buy “grocery store” dog food, you have to expect that no two bags are the same…Purina uses a lot of “scrap”, which can be a mixuture of god knows what, and they are legally able to call it “meat by-products”, “meat-meal”, etc…

You can actually save money…dogs eat less, because they utilize all the ingredients, and you have less poop by feeding better, and only slightly more costly food…they eat less because it contains no corn, soy, or wheat (which are simply “fillers” which a dogs body doesn’t use…they just eliminate it”…

Here’s a list of dog-foods that have been graded. The formula used, was first published by the FDA…It grades by a number of criteria…Many on this list are for “fat wallets”, but many are not…Kirklands (made by Diamond) is still around $20 for 40 lbs…and is rated way over 100.

Benefil fails miserably in this list…

Was Beniful or however you spell it…was it on the recall list last year…? What I would do if I were in your shoes…1st to ck to c if they were on the recall list…2nd, if they were on the list, ck to c if they had a class-action lawsuit…I would report it…maybe on the bag they’ll have a toll free number to the maker of the food…I don’t remember where they had that site at that had the recall list…time goes so fast, that might have been a couple years. ago, not last year…if you get a lawyer…I’d ask him/her questions 1st, on if it would be worth it to sue…dichihuahua
