Should I cut down my weeping cherry??

I have a weeping cherry in my front yard. It is pretty big because the previous owners never kept it trimmed. It is planted only about 18 inches from my house. My question is should I bother trimming it or should I just cut it down because it is so close to the house?? I am afraid it will ruin my foundation.

If you like it enough you can move it in winter whilst dormant (leafless)…big job though if it’s a large tree.

Weeping cherry trees don’t have hge root systems but 18 inches is way too close to a house. I don’t know if the roots would really damage your foundation but even if not, I’d be concerned for the tree’s growth because they get to be about 20 fet wide… and for the aesthetics too of your front yard. Is it just growing in one direction away from the house?
