Im my experience shih-tzu’s are not that great around kids. They are more of a mellow temperment, they go better with elderly people. Of course if they started out as puppies with the kids Im sure it would be fine but don’t expect them to be super playful or energetic. They are more just super lovey-dovey. Kids need a dog that can take abuse and keep up with there energy levels. If you want a smaller dog I would suggest a pappillion, or a beagle. For a larger dog boxers, labradors, etc. Good luck!

My mom has one and its good around kids. But some other peoples Shih Tzus arent. I guess it depends how the dog was raised.

it depends on the gene traits of the mom and the dad of the dog and the way the litter was raised, and how well the dog was socialized
