Do I have to get separate apprenticeships to do tattoos and piercings?

They are two VERY different careers and involve two different apprentance ships. Most pierers or tattoo artist do one or the other, the people in the shops around here dont do both.

I agree with mandyloo and colleen, they are two totally different skills. Just because most tattoo shops also do piercings, don’t mean that it is the same thing, or that the same person that does the tattoo’s also do the piercings. Sometimes, the same person can do both, but they have had separate apprenticeships. They have been trained in both. Just because you are qualified to pierce doesn’t mean you are automatically qualified to tattoo as well.

Honestly I have no idea. I don’t know if it is different in different states or anything. sorry. Maybe someone else will know on here, or maybe you can visit you local tattoo shop and ask them!

No, the shop youre aprenticing at should be able to train you in both tattooing and piercing, just ask.
