Do I get seasonal depression?

I know seasonal depression is when you’re depressed around the winter/fall time, but for me, it’s the opposite. Can seasonal depression be backwards? I could be having the worst day, but if the weather is dark and cold, I feel better.. if it’s nice and sunny, I feel worse. That sounds weird, but I’m much happier in the fall/winter. Why is that?

It can be switched around. I feel really down during spring time and during the fall, for the winter and summer months I am generally ok. Seasonal depression commonly occur in the winter, but can be during any time of the year.

well yeah seasonal depression can be anytime of the year. i learned in my psych class last year that season depression can occur anytime of the year, it all depends on the season and person and the day. like say you said you feel better when its dark and colder out, well in the summer if you have a cool and rainy day you may feel better because that is like a fall day. but in the winter if you have a really mild day with sun you may feel bad. seasonal depression is the most common type but it kills the season for the person

Seasonal depression does exist as stated anytime of the year…

I find I was happiest around xmas time in NY… It used to be nice & crispy cold out…sprinkles of snow…all the trees were white just a tranquil time…you an go out & everyone is cheerful kids are playing & laughing in the snow…people smiling…a wonderful feeling.

I find myself really down around summertime, its sticky & ichy & hot & humid & just a grouchy time with irritating allergies…where no matter what you do unless you have the a/c on 24/7 running up a high electric bill or have the shower/pool/beach as your only savior! phewy :(

Answer #6

Here’s the thing. Yes, technically a person could have seasonal depression during any season. Seasonal depression tends to happen during winter because of the lack of sunlight, and that causes a specific reaction for certain people. But seasonal depression is not just feeling down or sad based on the weather. It includes a lot of other symptoms.
