..and, if you DON’T want the fizz in champagne (I myself can’t swallow fizzy drinks) add a wee bit of sugar and stir… Mind you, that was NO FUN at the wedding reception… but it did come in handy when I was in Cuba with my infant daughter and she got a tummy upset and had to drink bottled soda water - de-fizzing it was the answer..

It’s because of the carbon in the champagne - the carbon creates bubbles around the salt (due to the coarse texture of the salt grain) and causes it to fizz.
