Salon Hair Dye Disaster - Stylist Expert Advice Helpful

I went to my normal hair stylist on Tuesday to have my light blonde hair darkened b/c I felt washed out. I came with pictures of 4 different hair models that had the hair color I wanted and knew it would not be exactly as pictured but close. I suggested that my hair be dyed a dark blonde and add highlights around the face. My stylist agreed because I wanted my hair to look more uniformed rather than all the various colors it was. The lighting is bad so I did not notice the problem until I got home but my hair was orange on top, the middle had two lines and the bottom half was ash and white. I called him the next day and she got me in on Thursday. He said he was perplexed but thought he had a solution and tried it. Again, could not see well until I got home and the issue was the same except my hair was a little lighter but still the problems remained. I called him back and he asked that I return the following Tuesday to “start over” so he can fix the problem. When I go back in I would like to have a little more understanding as to 1) why this happened to my hair and 2) what the solution can be. I am fearful that my hair will be damaged but yet I am caught b/c I must have my hair presentable by next Wednesday. Does anyone have any suggestions and information for me?
