That is the general idea. Packets of salt and baking soda pre-measured are available at drug stores. When I mix my own I usually use one pint of warm water, one tablespoon each of sea salt and baking soda.
They do sell high volume syringes made specifically for this purpose. There are also neti pots which look like little Aladin's lamps that are used to rinse the sinuses. There are videos showing how to use a neti pot on the net. I think using a syringe is more thorough but the neti pot is more comfortable (I can even talk while doing it). Combine salt, baking soda, and water in a bowl. Then take a syringe, or bulb, (the kind used to clean a babies nose out), and suck the solution up into it. Then squirt it up your nose!
