Answer #2

Blind spots, in the context of driving an automobile, are the areas of the road that cannot be seen while looking forward or through either the rear-view or side mirrors. Blind spots can be eliminated by overlapping side and rear-view mirrors, or checked by turning one’s head briefly, or by adding another mirror with a larger field of view. Detection of vehicles or other objects in blind spots may also be aided by systems such as video cameras or distance sensors, though these are not common in automobiles sold to the general public. Sit in the car and have a friend stand behind the car. No need to turn it on, or even have the keys. watch them in the rearview mirror. Tell them to come to one of the front doors. You will “lose them” in the mirror at a certain point when they are diagonal to the mirror. That is the blind spot. You can only tell for sure by turning your head quickly to the left or right and using your periephrial vision to watch for other vehicles.
