Why do I get red spots all over my body when I come out of a shower?

So it’s been happening for a couple of weeks now. At first I thought it was because I was taking really hot showers, but today I took the last shower in the house and my shower was actually kind of cold and I still had the red spots. Then I thought it was something in a pipes or something, then I remembered that I took a shower at friends earlier this week and I still had the red spots. So any ideas? Something in the water supply? Should I see if this is happening to anyone else?

Answer #1

if you scratched that area it could be the reason.

Answer #2

New soap, new lotion/moisterizer (can’t spell) washing off, shampoo/conditioner, maybe something in the water i dunno if that could happen, might be scrubbing to hard, allergic to something.

Answer #3

Other than the appearance, what bothers you about the spots? How long do they last? Are they truly “all over my body”? Are they on areas not (usually) exposed to sun? And then there are all the issues raised by t-muffin…

BTW, now you know why dermatologists charge so much !!

Answer #4

You scrubed to hard, or you might be allergic to the soap or body wash your using.

Answer #5

My legs get red spots on them when I take a shower whenever the water is fairly warm. I have fair, sensitive skin, so if your skin type is similar, it’s probably the same thing.

Answer #6

Is it dots or blotches? I sometimes go blotchy for 10 or so minutes after having a shower. I think it’s just the hot water.

Answer #7

Please look up cholinergic urticaria. Start taking an antihistamine. It won’t make the blotches go away but they won’t itch. If Zyrtec doesn’t help, see an allergy doctor and try hydroxyzine. I just advise you to be careful and, once you feel them coming on, or see them, get out of the shower and sit down and relax. I have had these for over a year and, if you continue to shower, it may become a bit difficult to breathe, and you might become light-headed. DON’T LET IT GET TO THIS POINT! If it gets hard to breathe, YOU MUST DIAL 911! You could go into anaphalyctic shock. I don’t want to scare you, and this has never happened to me, but please be aware that, even though these could be “idiopathic” (or without a good reason or cause), they can still be dangerous. I know it’s hard to take colder showers, but it is important to take cooler ones. Once it gets a little hard to breathe, hot showers will make it doubly so. Try not to itch them as, I’m sure you’ve noticed, they usually get much brighter red when you do, and probably burns a little bit afterwards. Though these hives may seem to be caused by nothing in particular, it’s best to still see an allergy doctor. Though rare, sometimes these are associated with silent diseases. I’m not a doctor, so please don’t take this as a diagnosis. Do, though, take care of your body, and pay attention when it’s telling you things.

Answer #8

that happens to me too. i think it might have to do with circulation and the temperature of the water. I’m pretty sure it’s normal since all the ppl before me are saying they get it too. Unless it’s physically bothering you or hurting or not going away

Answer #9

Alright I skimmed through the answers and here are my answers:

  • they’re blotches not really spots
  • I did switch body washes but I did that about 2/3 months ago so I doubt it’s doing anything now
  • they blotches are sensitive to the touch but that about it
  • like I said I get these in cool showers too
  • I don’t really itch too much besides my patches eczema but those are only on my knees and elbows
Answer #10

Answer #11
