Red/brown highlights blonde hair

I have blonde hair and I want to put in red and brown highlights in it. How can I do this at home and how can I make sure the red takes to my blonde hair?

Answer #1

oh, and as for making sure it takes to your hair, when you are READY TO DYE YOUR HAIR, cut a small chunk (called a test chunk, its just like a half inch off the underlayer where nobody sees and it wont be noticed, you wont even really be able to tell) and dye that strand for as long as the instructions tell you to, then rinse and see if its what you want.

well if you want to do it at home, the best way is to get someones help. If you want normal highlights, stores (beauty stores specifically) sell shower cap like things that have holes in them that you pull strands through that you want dyed, while the rest stays blond and protected. its best if someone helps though. If your looking for more like streaks then highlights, you can use aluminum foil to sandwhich the dying (ha) hair while it dyes, again, you might want help. I do my hair myself and highlights are tough. So for better instructions, go online for some DIY tips im sure they have something.
