How much is a reasonable fee to clean your own mothers house?

My mom has asked me to clean her house tomorrow while were over there and said she wants to pay me. Keep in mind my moms house is never dirty, it probley just needs some dusting and vacumming. I jut dont know how much to ask for, especially because shes my mother.

Answer #1

Well, I would never take money from my mother for helping her out….maybe just ask her to make you some dinner instead?

Answer #2

Depends how much cleaning you’re doing? I hoover everyday and do the dishwasher and litter trays and I get nothing, except rent free living. But when I was in school I did all this for £10 a week.

Answer #3

Oh soz, i didnt read the extra bit, did she offer to pay you?

Answer #4

Ask her to make you your favourite meal or something as payment.

Answer #5

Or to look after your son while you and your fiance spend a night alone or something.

Answer #6

My mother is the type that when you do something she wants to pay you, shes also doing this because shes knows im not working so shes trying to give me an apportunity to make some extra cash. P.s. - to anyone whos thinking im a teenager living at home and these are chores, im not.

Answer #7

I agree with Colleen and Irene. Instead of money, just suggest that she can simply do something nice for you instead. I mean, since it really isn’t going to be much work, it’s not really necessary to get paid for it.

Answer #8

for the work that your probably ging to be doing i would suggest $10-$20. its kind of difficult though as you say its only a few things to do but she wants to pay you because she knows your not working. if you could find anything else around the house to do, or ask her if theres anything else you could do like plant something, weed the garden, fix something thats been broken or anything else she hasnt got around to doing or cant do herself, you could ask for a little more. in some situations its ok to ask for money from your mum, especially if you need a bit of extra help and she wont take no for an answer.i sounds like it will make her happy to help you out a bit
