What could cause you to have a low pulse?

My mother and I were at her doc appt today and they said her pulse was 38, why is it so low like that, they did admit her to the hospital though

There are a few causes actually i mean its possible that she is very very fit for her age and so her heart rate is low. she could also have hypothermia. Heart rate is really important tho it could lead to cardiac arrest is its too low, thank god she is seeing doctors better to be safe then sorry.

Low blood pressure and possible heart problems can cause it. It is good that they admitted her to hospital.

She has high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and a couple of other thing, and yes it is good they admitted her
