What can prevent the spread of impetigo/school sores?
My friend had sores on her hand and the doctor recently told her they are school sores (impetigo). I’m with her all the time and we share clothes etc (I had no idea she had school sores) but now her boyfriend has come out with some, caught off her as they’re highly contagious. I’m worried that I might get one/some. How can I prevent it?
I actually had to google this cause I never heard of it, but it says the prevention is almost like a common cold case.
Keep washing your hands with warm water and soap. Don’t share fabrics, like towels, face cloths, etc. Wash your clothes separately… and if you’re in school or somewhere where you share space, try and disinfect the are with either a wipe or a small spray.
impetigo is a highly HIGHYLY contagious skin condition, and in all honesty, if someone has it, they should not be in close contact around other people. hygiene is the most important factor here. they are transmitted ideally when someone has a sore (open wound) of some sort…
orginally it manifests when someone has a sore, or a cut and they repeatedly scratch or pick it with, not dirty, but unclean fingernails, this is only exaserbated if the nails are dirty.. but requires repeated picking etc.
anyone with impetigo should refrain from getting into close contact with others, also, their dosctor can prescribe specific topical medicaiton to help alleiviate and irradicate the problem.
just get your clothing, bedding any cloth material things you are in close contact with and wash them, and just stay alert for any signs of infection.
it really isn’t as bad as it sounds, it’s just unpleasant and unsightly.
