When you have a late period or missed period it could be a sign that something is up. There are many different reasons for late periods but if the problem continues for more than one menstrual cycle, make an appointment with your doctor to discuss the issue.

Missed periods do not necessarily mean that you are pregnant. If you’re sexually active and have missed a period, then it is worthwhile to take a pregnancy test. Since you took an at-home pregnancy test, you may want to visit your local pregnancy center(Planned Parenthood Clinic) can provide a test for free.

If you have a late period and a negative pregnancy test, then consider whether or not you’ve recently been sick, gained or lost a significant amount of weight, have been under excessive stress or have taken any new medications. All of these things can affect your menstrual cycle and cause you to have irregular periods. Additionally, certain types of birth control, including the birth control pill, Depo-Provera and Norplant, can cause you to have menstrual cycles disturbances.

Reasons for a missed period: -Any woman with stress, rapid weight loss or gain, illness, drugs (certain tranquilizers) may have a disrupted cycle -Sexually active pregnancy -Using the Pill (Pill brand is too low in estrogen ) -Former Pill user body hasn’t yet adjusted to life off the pill; see doctor if periods don’t resume in 3 months -Using Mini-Pill, Norplant, or Depo-Provera common side effect of progestin-only methods of birth control — drug is probably suppressing ovulation as well as period, effect may be prolonged; most common among new users of Norplant and long-term users of Depo-Provera

Again, if the problem continues for more than one menstrual cycle, make an appointment with your doctor or health care provider to discuss the issue.

As above, get a proper test done by the doctor to make sure you aren’t pregnant. If you haven’t had unprotected sex or cause to think you are pregnant then still see a doctor, either way get this checked out. Stress and dieting can cause irregular periods but a health professional will give you the best advice.

Answer #4
