What could possibly be wrong with my laptop or charger?

A few days ago my laptop battery died completely. I left it charging overnight and when I woke up it was fine. My battery was full and it my laptop was working. When I went to turn it on again it wouldn’t work. Usually this happens when it’s not charged. I left it charging again but it wouldn’t switch on. Sometimes it would but it says that my battery is dead & needs charging. It’s been in the charger since and it’s not turning on. What could be the problem? Is it the charger or the laptop? The charger lights up when it’s in the power plug and even when I take it out it still lights up. What could be wrong with it?

If the charger isn’t working, you can purchase a replacement charger and see if that is the problem as it would be cheaper then bringing the laptop into a repair shop. Also, check if the port where you plug the charger isn’t loose. If it is, you might need to get someone to seal the charger in place so it is permanently attached to your laptop. A rule I always follow is to charge my laptop til it is full and every now and then let the laptop die (turns off by itself as the battery is low), then I would plug the charger back in. I’m sure quite sure the exact reasons, but I was told by an IT guy at work, battery life last longer if you allow the laptop to run flat on it’s own rather then having the charger plugged in every time you are using the laptop….The same rule applies to charging a mobile phone….By the way, if your laptop is still under warranty bring both the laptop and charger back and have them fix it, should not cost you a cent but maybe take a week or so to fix it depending on where the repair centres are located.
