What is the best way to pierce your ear?

I think sterilize a needle and push it through ear with bit of cork behind ear then put a sterilized stud in.

Answer #1

The best way is having it done by a professional. At home piercings usually lead to infections, rejection of the piercing by your body, and crooked uneven piercings. There is reason that people train to become piercers…theres alot more to it than just shoving a needle through your skin.

Answer #2

Go get it done somewhere profecionaly.

Answer #3

I cant see the problem as long as the stud and needle are clean it would be fine. just bathe it twice a day for a month in hot salted water

Answer #4

Whats the difference?

Answer #5

First of all, I’m not going to get into the whole “you shouldn’t do it yourself, go somewhere and have a professional do it” or tell you the consequences, probably because you already know & are going to do it anyway. And honestly, if it’s just your earlobes that you’re piercing - it really isn’t THAT bad to do yourself as long as you sterilize the needle and earring and have a VERY steady hand. Get a hollow needle (Make sure this is the same gauge as the earring you’re going to put in!), something hot to burn the needle with, an earring to put in later on, and some type of non-toxic/non-permanent eyeliner to mark where you want to pierce with. I don’t suggest you use safety pins and sewing needles because it’s not the proper equipment. So the first thing to do is sterilize the needle and mark the spot on your ear that you want to pierce. Aim well, because you can angle it wrong, and your piercing will come out really weird. Once you poke it through the first layer of skin, you’ll hear a little pop…it’s not actually a pop, and not quite as scary.. don’t worry. Breathe in, breathe out. Keep pushing through, because you need a heck of a lot of strength & courage to push it all the way. If it hurts, remind yourself why you’re doing it, and that you’ve already gone half-way so there’s no stopping you now! (Or: You could just not pierce you’re own ear at all!). Once you get the needle all the way through, relax. Leave it there for a few minutes. Then when you summon up enough courage, slowly put your earring in.

Make sure to take care of it and clean it daily.

The difference is they know what they are doing, and you don’t. There is more to it than just shoving a needle through your skin. Professionals were trained, and have skills in piercing. They know about the risks, and they know all about the safety precautions. They have all of the proper and sterile tools, in a sterile environment, with all the information about how to properly go about cleaning the piercing, and what to do if it gets infected.

Answer #7

Also, it hurts a lot worse when you do it yourself, than when you get it done by a professional. They do it so quick, it barely hurts. It’s really hard to pierce yourself as quickly as they do, without messing up and coming out with a crooked piercing.

Answer #8

I really apprieciate your advice thank you, It should be easy cos i had it done a while ago and you can still see where the old hole was and ive still got the old stud.

Answer #9

Answer #10

The difference is : if you do it yourself it could come out crooked or get infected - if you have a professional do it, you will be wwwaaayyy more satisfied! ;) Good Luck if you do it yourself!!!

Answer #19

Kat, nobody was yelling. You seem to have a problem with thinking everyone is yelling all the time when they are not.

Answer #20

Well, you are right yes, no one was yelling but….it was a little picky…whatever though, just scratch that.

Answer #21

No one likes to be yelled, picked, treated meanly etc., so lets all be Nice Nelly’s alright?

Answer #22

I agree, nobody likes to be yelled at, picked on, or treated wrong in any way. The thing is, nobody was yelling, nobody was picking on anyone, and nobody was being mean. So…what exactly is the problem?

Answer #23

You should definately get it done by a professional, because I know someone who pierced their own ear and the needle got stuck inside them. Not nice.

Answer #24

Have a professional do it cause if you just let someone do it who really don’t know what to do your ear will get infected.!

Answer #25

Well it depends. I have all my cartilage done. i did them myself and they are not infected. but as for the smaller things like your trugas or bone get them pro. But if its just normal ear get Ice or orjel, disinfected the earrings and your hands/ears and pop them threw. worked for me and i’ve had mine for 5 years. infection free!

Answer #26

Well Im gonna say something totally different from all these people, DO NOT GET IT DONE WITH THE GUN! it’s dangerous. Get it done with the clamp and the needle. (But I do have to agree with the whole professionally thing.)
