Perimenopause
What exactly is it? I was bored && taking random quizzes on a healt site thing && it said I could be in perimenopause.. What is it?
You’re a little young to be going through that, it’s basically before menopause (and the first couple of months after your last period, or something like that), I wouldnt worry about it… if you’re having irregular periods it’s most likely a hormonal thing and you may want to consult a doctor if it’s been going on for a while
I am 38 and know that I am heading into perimenopause because of symptoms I’ve had. I keep feeling like I am pregnant. I have had symptoms of breast tenderness, wanting to throw up while brushing my teeth. every month I go through this. I am not pregnant it is just hormones too low and too high at times I guess.
Go talk to the pharmacist, see if you cant take the morning after. If it’s too late, all you can do is wait a few weeks and take a pregnancy test. No symptoms, period, lack of period or anything else will help tell you whether you’re pregnant or not.
By definition, perimenopause is, “the time immediately before, during, and immediately after menopause”. That help!? Yeah, that”s what I thought when I read it and had one of my instructors explain. Basically, its from the first period you have that is out of whack, all the periods in between and maybe experiencing hot flashes due to the changing levels of estrogen in the body, and the very last period you ever have. That entire time when all this is taking place is perimenopause. Once you have had your very last period (including spotting), or have a complete hysterectomy with removal of the ovaries you are then considered menopausal and can last up to 10 !!! years???!!! Oh yippee Glad you found out!? {=
Slight correction to my post— Perimenopause also includes the menopausal time as well. So, from that 1st whacked out period until menopause is complete is perimenopause. How old are you, I haven”t been to your profile. I started having weird periods when I was 39 and surgically induced menopause has been found to happen at times after childbirth. Estrogen levels change during pregnancy any way and the trauma of childbirth just stresses the body out even more causing menopause to occur even in young women
