why do some people think rap isn't real music?

I like some rap, but other rap music is really bordering on just yelling obscenities at an underage audience. I appreciate rap artists that use rhythm and literary techniques to get their point across, some of it can be very clever. But I do not like rap that’s just simple beats with a guy telling about how he shot his wife or something…

I don’t consider it music because there isnt any “music” involved in it. There’s no guitar, or any musical instrument in it, there’s just a bunch of annoying headache inducing beats.

It’s just their opinion really. I know how u feel. I like a music group who people make fun of. Dont take it too harshly. They just like different music to urs.

Everyone has different preferences. Rap doesn’t really have a story to it, other than screaming disses at the audience. Its just the same thing over & over again.

the reason i do not care for rap is because they ‘sample’ other musicians music oftentimes, which to me takes very little creativity. but hey- to each his own, music is in the EAR of the beholder.

I like some rap. I only like rap when there is really something different about it and actually has meaning to it. For example Eminem in my opinion is one of the greatest rap artists of our time. But other rap music I’ve heard, there’s just nothing interesting about it and all it is is pretty much just yelling curse words and talking about sex in a vulgar way which I’m not too crazy about. Some rappers go overboard with that.

I think that it’s not real music because it’s just a beat and people are only speaking, not actual singing.

Rap was originally invented to talk about life in a musical manor. now it’s just retards rhyming talking about sex, druggies, money, and shooting up homies in the hood. if you want to listen to some real rap listen to eminem. i dont like rap. i absolutly hate it! but i like eminem cause he actualy raps about life.

Because there are some terrible rappers out there that can make it hard to tell the difference between tallent and niose
