why do people glare at people they don't even know just because they "look different"?

Answer #1

People are generally judgmental, and may have learned to dislike some qualities or appearances due to experiences, or it’s just what they’ve been taught.

Answer #2

Because they look different- its that simple. I myself dont look the norm, espcially for my small town. The stares dont bother me because personally i feel that if your dressing different and look different - your going to get nooticed and you usually do so because you like it or for the attention. Just ignore the glares…what does it matter?

Answer #3

Because in their minds they either think “Wow, i feel bad for person for blank reason.” or “this person is so ugly, i cant believe it” or “this person is so beautiful, he/she stands out from the crowd. i wish i was that beautiful.” it really depends. some people dont care about looks, where areas with some other ppl looks are everything. me? i suppose i would stand out because i am so white. this is how humanity is, and i believe its not something that can be changed

Answer #4

Human nature has basically taught us to put people into categories. People who are safe and people who are not. Generally people who are different fall into the not safe category. Now, as humans living in a society, what do we do to those who cause discomfort, we ostracize them. This includes glaring at them. But somehow I get the feeling this isnt a sociology question. Look, people are judgmental. That’s life. So you have a few choices. Conform to the norm. Be different and accept that people are going to judge you. Or be different and refuse to accept that people will judge you.

Answer #5

I agree with all your opinions. I’m basically just kind of sick of people always judging just because of how someone looks. For example, my good friend is abnormally tall and large. She looks more like a man than anything, so she gets glared at ALL THE TIME. And it’s not fair to her. She can’t do anything about it. Also, I was once the subject to people’s stupid glares just because my nose was huge. It was abnormally huge; many people thought I had a physical defect. Strangers would stare at me for long periods of time and glare at me, not to mention taunt me every chance they could. When I got my nose job, however, it all stopped. It’s like just because my nose is normal I’m a better person. I hate that. Because I haven’t changed. My nose did.

Answer #6

no one id perfect and we tend to look at what is different or facinating to us. think car accident on freeway.

Answer #7

because it’s human nature to judge on first impression and wat people look like. thats why we need to try our hardest not to judge people on what they look like but what is on the inside
