Why do people have the cross with jesus all bloody?

I think Jesus would be a little pìssed off if he came back to earth and he went to somebodies house and they were just like “hey buddy remember this?”

Answer #1

well when he died on the cross, i’d imagine him very dirty and bloody and torn up. so i guess it adds to the effect.

Answer #2

Well to tell you the truth this is how he died for us, so he will see that we do appriciate what he did for us you know. But that is just my believe.

Answer #3

Lol good question.. Well they ARE the same people that like to eat jesus flesh :P

Answer #4

I’m not quite into religion myself, but I imagine that it has to do with it being more.. authentic that way. I also imagine that it has something to do with recognizing the sacrifices he made for those who follow him and such.

Answer #5

What I dont understand is the drinking the blood of christ and eating his flesh thing, thats just creepy in my opinion. Okay it’s supposed to make you feel closer to him and all but if I want to get close to someone the last thing I want to do is drink there blood and bite a chunk out of there arm.

Answer #6

Honestly-I’m Christian and I don’t get it either.

Answer #7

Its related to the sacrifice thing, where Jesus is the sacrifice rather than something like a lamb

Answer #8

I always thought it was a, “You are what you eat,” kind of thing. That’s a vulgar way of putting it, but I mean Christianity always says that Jesus is a part of each of his followers, and they’re a part of him.

Answer #9

As Danielle said, sacrifice. Showing his blood is showing the suffering. He effing whipped, and had thorns beaten in to his head, and stuck to a piece of wood by his hands and feet (they probably used his wrists, his weight would have made the spikes tear through his hands), and all for his followers. He went through all of this, supposedly, so that heaven could be opened up to everyone after him. If he didn’t suffer, then there was no point. That’s the belief.

Answer #10

Those are only symbols. Don’t let any Priest or Minister tell otherwise.

Answer #11

If the christ was crucified and i were a disciple of him, i think i would hate the instrument that was used to kill my master

Answer #12

With all due respect, Would a follower of Mahatma Ghandi hang a bullet from his neck just because he was assasinated by a gun?

Answer #13

It’s theoretical. You aren’t literally eating Him lol. It is partaking in rememberence of His sacrifice. Jesus said “Whenever you eat of the bread and drink of the cup you proclaim Me.” or something to that extent. I will look up the verse and post it, but He did definitly say “Do this in rememberence of Me.” It’s more of an obedience thing, just like anything else.

Answer #14

not funny bethoven girl

Answer #15

Jesus was whipped and beaten and almost dead when they drove nails through His body and hung Him on a cross. Then, after He died, they stabbed Him in the side with a spear. The bloodiness of some pictures is to remind us of how great a sacrifice it was and how much He went through for us – simply because He loves us!

Answer #16

It does seem strange now that I thin about it from an outside point of view. But, my reasons are relitiivly simple. what comes to your mind when I say Jesus Died for you because he loves you? Now what comes to your mind when I say jesus was whipped, beaten, humiliated, forced to carry a 15-20 foot tall wooden cross through a crowded city, and then hung on that coss to die for you because he loves you. I know he died for me but the visual reminder of exactly what he went through tells me exactly how much he loves me.

Answer #17

It is to remember what he did for us
