My doctor actually thought it was a "small dog". Facepalm xD
. Maybe: for the same reason that so many people don't know what a Hyrax is. . ..... in both cases - it is because they have never heard of them. You can't expect people to somehow know things instinctively - about species that they have never even seen. . There are certainly many millions of species within the animal kingdom and many of them haven't even every been identified and named. Some individual species have been separately identified by different researchers and the two (or more) different classifications have often been believed to be separate species until later researchers have found them to be merely alternative names for the same species of creature. . I wonder how many of the (estimated) 10 million separate species of fauna you can reliably identify - or even say you have ever even heard of ? . My guess is it is no more than one hundredth of one percent of them - and that assumes you to be a pretty good naturalist for your age. . For the record I HAVE "heard of" a chinchilla before but I would not be able to identify one if it was sat there infront of me incubating its eggs or galloping majestically across across its natural pasture land.
Best wishes - Majikthise. .
Cause there not common, I know a lot of people who don't know what they are. I think they are becoming more known now. My friend just got one. I've heard from some people that they are not good pets to own, so a lot of families don't get them their kids don't know what they are. Since a lot of poeple don't buy them, they don't sell them at a lot of places or they will be loosing money just sitting there
