How do people know that dogs see in black and white?

I wonder how people now how dogs can see in black and white

Answer #1

Actually I was reading somewhere that they have figured out dogs do see in color, but that their vision is more from side to side than all around like we do. Do a search on it I may have some of that wrong. But the color thing I believe is right. Of course since they can’t really talk we don’t know for sure.

Answer #2

In human eyes we have what is called rods and cones. Rods show shades of gray and cones are sensitive to color. Dogs do not have cones in their eyes. Also, people that are color blind have less or no cones in their eyes.
