Why do people always assume you hafta be "emo" (excuse the word =D) to shop at hot topic?

I don’t know, it’s stupid. I know punks, scene kidz, preps, emos, ravers, losers, loners, etc who shop at hot topic.

i heard these annoying girls the other day saying “omygawsh! i went into the emo store today at the mall…. but only for like five seconds…” i was like wtf really? i hate when people say that

it is very stupid yes. ive never been on for the whole stereotyping thing.

i hate that, but im prob not any better. i wont go into hollister or aero to save my life.

hahaha i shop at nearly all stores.. and im what people call “Skater or Scene or punk er emo.” on the verge of those yet i still go into areo sumtimes if i like one of there tops haha

lol my friends nd i went into aero nd sprayed air freshener nd perfume we bought form hot topic EVERYWHERE once. i sprayed one of the workers..then we just smirked nd left. lol

I’ve never known anyone to make that assumption, with the exception of my fourteen year old neighbor who is stereotypical about everything. To answer your question, there’s really no way to tell why people think certain things, they just do! Some people do it to put others done, and some because they are just clueless and don’t know what to think. Shopping at a store certainly doesn’t make one “emo”, and it would be pathetic for anyone to have that mind-set.

what i hate more is people who PRETEND to be. im not gonna lie. i wuld be catagorized in the “emo” group. ill admit it. nd theres ppl i kno yu like put petty marks on theyre wrist then run around telling everyone theyre emo. bugs the hell outta me.

thats soooo true! i would have say i get “emo” sometimes but i dont cut myself. people need to learn the difference between emo and cutter. emo, scene stuff like that are all stereotypes
