Do I have to pay taxes if I'm working at 16?

I recently began working and when I got my pay stub it said I had money with held for federal w/h. Is this normal if I’m 16?

Answer #1

Well, your taxes still come out of your paycheck.

Answer #2

As you begin working, taxes for federal expenses are taken out of your paycheck. Usually in the form of Medicare, federal w/h, and others. In addition to those, states can tax you as well (in my state I am taxed for my county).

Answer #3

It depends on how much money your earning. I’m only earning around 250 & I’m 16. It’s not enough to be paying tax though =)

Answer #4

Yes, you have.

You should ask an accountant to see what are laws in your state.

Answer #5

Yep you sure do :-(
