Pacifier at 14?

Hey, this will sound very odd, but is there anything majorly wrong with being 14 years old and using a pacifier from time to time when I’m alone at home?

Answer #1

Using a pacifier is not good for your teeth.

Answer #2

No teenager should require a pacifier - seek help.

Answer #3

Could you all please not laugh though, its very offensive considering it’s very embarassing and hard to talk about

Answer #4

Please PLEASE dont worry about these other morons trying to make you feel bad. I had mine until I was 14 and then I made a compromise with my mother that I’d give It up if she’d let me get my tongue piercing. That was last year (When I was 14) and I got my tongue piercing and gave up my pacifier the very same day. I had tried everything to get rid of my dummy from sucking my thumb to sucking on paddlepop sticks. I gave up the day I got my tongue piercing because I knew I’d get an infection and I’d argued for so long to get my piercing that as much as I loved my dummy, It wasnt worth the risk. This might not help you so much but maybe you need to find something you love more. Maybe a tongue piecing isn’t for you but something like it. I figured that I just have an oral fixation issue and I just supplemented it. If you’re not ready to give up your dummy dont worry about it but if you really do want to give up, then you just have to think why do you do it and see if you can replace it with something else. I dunno if this was helpful but I figure that I know exactly what you went through and it helps to know you’re not the only one.

Consider this: It is a risk to your health and your teeth and jaw area. It can also cause dry lips and mouth. No one wants that. Plus your about to enter highschool and stuff, a time for new things: I would advise breaking the habbit now.

Answer #9

yep, its not good for your teeth while its perfectly fine to have something comforting that you do that makes things better or problems seem to go away (which is probably why you use the pacifier) an actual dummy at your age isnt a good idea, because it can ruin your teeth its a better idea to talk about any problems you might have or/and find other ways to deal/handle them like writing your feelings down keeping a diary painting making something hugging a stuffed toy ect

Answer #10

Alright… if your 14… your WAY past the age for a pacifier lol I agree completely with jazloverstoskate’s advice.

Answer #11

Dont worry about it one bit! Sucking a pacifier is fine! Your giving yourself a sense of security and happiness without doing harm to anyone! Sure, it may be outside of the social norm, but the truth is, everyone has a behind-the-curtain habit they want to keep from society. Besides, you shouldn’t stop yourself from being who you are! Im 14, and i never stopped sucking my pacifier. Ive probably had it in my mouth half the time my entire life! Am i going to stop any time soon? No. Why? Because its who i am, and gives me a sense of security. Im sucking on My dummy as i type this up right now, and Ive never felt better!
