http://www.funadvice.com/r/3jssdocl8g Has some great information. There were 9 Beanie Babies released in 1993, and they are considered the ‘Original 9’. They are Legs the Frog, Squealer the Pig, Brownie the Bear ( later renamed to Cubbie the Bear), Flash the Dolphin, Splash the Whale, Patti the Platypus, Chocolate the Moose, Spot the Dog and Pinchers the Lobster. Only the 1st generation of each of the original Beanies are the rarest, they have black ink tush tags and a different looking ty tag. The original 9 are all retired now and can no longer be bought. My sisters and I were obsessed with ty Beanie Babies and we have all of the original 9, not first generation unfortunately, and many of the others. :)
