What's your opinion on "Slutwalks"?

In my humble opinion, while it’s wrong to attribute the crime of Rape to a woman’s clothing, answering back by going all out dressed as “Sluts” ain’t the answer to it either. What do you all think?

Answer #1

This is a stupid idea, in my opinion. Just because someone is dressing provocatively, doesn’t excuse rape, obviously. But I don’t think these walks are going to be accomplishing anything.

Answer #2

I agree that a girl dressing revealing should be blamed for rape. Rape is never excusable, and is never right now matter what. But at the same time, I do believe it would be safer for women, under certain circumstances, if they didn’t dress so revealing. Ex, at my catholic school we used to have kilts, but girls began wearing them too short, many were touched/ sexually harassed unwillingly and so they were banned. I don’t think girls should be blamed one bit, but at the same time sometimes depending on the situation, it could be more safe.

*SHOULDN’t

Answer #4

The walks are definately not accomplishing anything. Men (and woman because women DO rape) with the propensity to rape show you signs that they’re dangerous people. Rape is NOT a crime of passion, or because you “look good”. Rape is a crime of anger and hatred, and a crime that is committed when the opportunity arises. The only way to stop rape and sexual violence is to teach people how to avoid giving someone the chance to rape them.

You can look but you can’t touch? It’s a pretty simple rule of thumb if you ask me.
