my girlfreinds is looking to go on the pill but how long after sex can you stop takeing it? we not sure and we are going to use the pill as well as comdoms.
Your question doesn't make any sense but,
I applaud you for using two forms of contraception! Thats the safe way to go, keep it up.
The way birth control pills work is the girl will take her pill once a day, everyday at the same time. The hormones in the pill will stop her body from releasing an egg, therefore you can't get pregnant if there is no egg to fertilize (however sometimes if she takes it late or misses a day an egg can still be released so still use condoms!).
So there is no real stopping point for taking the pills, if you are planning on having sex she needs to be taking her one prescription pill everyday all the time.
It is safe to have sex after 2 weeks of her on the pill, thats when they start working but, if you want to be extra safe wait a month.
what? If your on the pill and having sex why would you want to stop taking it?
If you start taking the pill the day you get your period then your protected. If you start it while off your period then it will start working 7 days after you take the first pill.
You have to take the pill everyday for it to work.
depending on the pill you take a pill every morning or time of day what ever you choose. dont stop taking the pill read instructions and use protection...Great tip would be to also use spermicidal foam as well as a condom to lower the chances of getting pregnant.
