Why do I obsess over certain things?

I don’t think I have OCD, but there are a few things I do and I don’t know why. For example, whenever I am writing, It has to be perfect. Perfect handwriting, or I erase it, or throw it away and start over (mostly throw it away because I can’t stand the indents the pencil leaves after writing, and eraser marks.). I also can’t stand to mark it out, I have to start over or it’s ugly. Sometimes it gets annoying, I write a couple words then I throw it away start over and do the same thing over and over again until I get it perfect. I also can’t stand using the next couple of pages in a notebook after writing on one page, because it leaves indents on the next few pages. I also HATE certain paper, it has to be really WHITE!!! I do this with drawing too. It has to be perfect. It’s sooo annoying, and it takes so much time, it wastes paper as well. Even if I am only writing something that only I will see, like a reminder, or schedule, or something. I still do it. It’s really hard at school when I am trying to get something wrote, but I can’t because I have to keep starting over! Does anyone have any ideas of why I do this? Is this something like a disorder or something?

Answer #1

OCD comes in degrees…you seem to have a small degree of it (lots of us do in minor ways)….it’s when it takes over your life that a person needs help.
