Doctor said not to give water to my son

The doctor said not to give water to my son.hes 1 month and 1/2.why is that?

Answer #1

because if they have to much they get water intoxication.

Answer #2

Water washes out a baby’s natural electrolytes. In other words, a baby can become extremely dehydrated if given too much water for their tiny bodies. Also, it can possibly drown their systems, internally. Like mandyloo said, even at 3-4 months, only an ounce a day is recommended. And it’s true that formula/breastmilk is all a 1 month old needs right now. Wait until he’s at least 1 before you start giving it to him regularly. That also goes for cows milk and syrups. They contain a bacteria that a babies digestive system can’t break down until they turn 1 year old. Giving it to them any earlier can make them very sick.

Answer #3

everything contains water even breastmilk.if you give him or her water you’ll giver your baby water intoxication. which could or would be fatal

Answer #4

Even at 3-4 months - the doctors say only to give them an ounce of water a day. That’s it.

Answer #5

Babies do not need water and if you do give it to them at such a young age it can be fatal. It’s called Water Intoxication.

They get all they need from Breastmilk or Formula. They do not need anything else at that age what so ever.

Answer #6

Maybe the water would cause him to get bloated & he needs his nutrients found in breastmilk. Water has absolutely no nutritional value Also it could cause brain swelling.

:)

Answer #7

I agree with mandyloo but when my son was about 3-4months old I started t give him water other wise he may not want it when he gets older..good luck
