My mom came home VERY drunk

I know she has a drinking problem but she’s NEVER come home this drunk before, stumbling and falling over. She won’t talk to me. She puked and now she just wants to sleep. Is she going to be okay for the night? What should I do?

Answer #1

If you’re worried, you can keep checking on her for 30 minutes or so to make sure she’s still ok. After that, she’s definitely beyond any risk of alcohol poisoning.

She should be fine but miserable tomorrow.

Answer #2

Bring her a glass of water and put it by her bedside. You can ask her if she’s alright, but she’s probably passed out already.

Your mom will be okay, she’s just really drunk. She will probably have a hangover tomorrow and be a bit cranky so leave her be.

Answer #3

Yeah bucket next to bed. Also try to get her to have water but dont force it on her (some drunks are known to be randomly violent). In the meantime ask her if she wants anything (not any more alcohol) also how did she get home? If she drove then tomorrow, (afternoon or evening, definately not the morning) tell her you really really dont want her to drive home drunk. Seriously everyone says theyre fine yet theres so many drink driver incidents. Also in the morning she is probably going to feel like absolute crap so basically be really good to her otherwise you will cop it.

Answer #4

Just get her to bed, get her some water (and maybe a bucket next to the bed…) She’ll be ok… she just needs to sleep it off and …she’ll be hung over tomorrow.

If her drinking is a constant problem maybe you should talk to her and tell her how uncomfortable situations like this make you feel. Then refer her to AA, there are resources online to find meetings in your local area.
