My Doggy has seizures=[

My Beagle has been having seizures lately, not like every day or anything, but about one or two weeks ago he had one, and a couple weeks before that he had one, and the same was with a couple weeks before that. Should we talk to a doctor?

Answer #1

My beagle has epilepsey. We took him to the vet when we first noticed it, and he said we can either do nothing or give him some meds that he will have to take for the rest of his life - highly addictive and pricey.. So we opted to do nothing. There is no risk in doing this because the risk in humans having epilepsey is that they are so high up, when they fall is when they hurt themselves, and since dogs, especially beagles, are very low to the ground there is no risk in that. My dog gets his seizure and then throws up, it is hard to watch, especially for my brothers. Hope I helped.

Take him to a Vet…they will give you a prescription for phenobarbitol…or one of the other seizure meds…they are VERY inexpensive, and will help your dog live a normal life.

To determine whether a dog has epilepsy or something else, a veterinarian or neurologist arrives at their diagnosis by a process of elimination. They determine what is not and then, hopefully, come to a logical conclusion as to what it is. The following is a list of conditions which can cause seizures in dogs: http://www.canine-epilepsy.com/Why.html

Take care !!
