My dog keeps jumping my fence

Does anyone know how to break a dog from jumping over a fence? without putting her on a chain.

You build a taller fence…you can spend lots of time with your dog, excercising it, so it’ll be more tired, and less likely to want out…or…

You can buy a “charger”, along with some electric fence wire, or tape…there are lots of insulators, to fit different fence post types…and run a wire along the top of the fence. They make “yard sized” chargers just for dogs…it will only take 2 to 5 times (depending on how obsessed the dog is about getting out). Leave it on all the time at first, so there is a “bite” at every attempt to go over…gradually, you can turn it off, more and more, until you can just take it down…dogs are smart, and electricity is a non-abusive way for them to “teach themselves”, not to jump the fence.

PS…is this dog neutered or spayed? That too, will help keep it at home.

What you should try doing is, when your dog jumps over the fence once you’ve retrieved him/her verbally punish him/her and chain him/her up. Maybe try standing between you dog and the fence and telling your dog “no” etc. If you keep doing this everytime, eventually your dog will stop doing it (hopefully.lol) and you won’t have to chain your dog up. It might take a while but keep persevering with it. If not try a bigger fence.lol. Hope this was helpful.

Once a jumper, always a jumper. They will overcome an electric fence. A taller fence with an angled topper is the most effective, humane way to keep your dog inside and safe, in my opinion.
