My beta can't swim.

My beta fish is pretty old…well, like three. lately he can’t swim to the top of the water to get his food. like, he’ll try really hard to swim, but can’t stay afloat. So now he lays at the bottom of his tank all day, and everyone thinks he’s dead. I’m so nervous, I love him!! Does anyone know anything I can do to help him eat??

Answer #1

you can tie a string around him and attach a balloon to the other end of the string and he should instantly float..now his only problem would be getting down..

Answer #2

I hate to say this but he will die soon. There life span is not long, you can look that up. When mine started swimming crocked, like with a bent tail, he was dead with in days. Sorry. I could be wrong, but life span is not long, just a couple of years

Answer #3

same as the others…he will die soon. real sry.

Answer #4

sorry but he is old and is probably going to die. its sad really

Answer #5

He pretty old for a beta fish and will probably die soon. I’m sorry for that. I use to have a beta who have very poor eyesight (or maybe blind…I dunno) and I would have to tap the water around the food so he could find it. But that’s not the same situation…the only thing I can think of to help your fish friend is to maybe try to transfer him to a low container or tank so he does have to swim to much. They do put they in tiny containers at pet store which I don’t agree with but it might help…
