What happens at Muslim funeral?
My best friends dad died yesterday and i went to the mosque with my mum to attend the, ….service (???). I’m catholic so i didn’t really understand what was happening could someone explain it to me????
A normal Islamic funeral usually goes like this.
The dead body is bathed, to symbolically wash away any remnants of this world and to physically clean the body before being covered in a simple and modest colored clothing. Most choose the color white as that is a symbol of purity, but the color can vary death to death.
After this, the Janazah or funeral prayer is recited by either everyone or a few people. Most adults have to recite it. Once the prayer is finished, the body is taken and buried into the ground. It is NEVER cremated as that is forbidden in both Judaism and Islam.
